GROUP 5F offers comprehensive packages of planning, engineering and consultancy services for builders, architects and facade companies. On the basis of our outstanding technical and personnel resources and our wide-ranging network, we are able to react flexibly and efficiently to the demands of modern envelope design.
We are a fast expanding company evolving from a merger of highly specialized Building Consultants and Facade Designers; in 2006.
We are specialising in the planning and development of complex processes and process data for the built environment, with our main focus on Facades.
Our goal, is to provide our Clients with time and cost savings from the design through to the realisation of a viable facade by delivering technological consultancy and design services. We represent the view that this goal can be best achieved when the facade technology is coupled to a modern data management system capable of coordinating architectural design solutions with the production machinery for all the component parts.
GROUP 5F sets out to offer innovative process in the realisation of modern facade technologies. We offer an independent team of specialists who can demonstrate all the prerequisites to deliver future-orientated project realisations with most challenging delivery partners in our industry.
Company History
GROUP 5F was founded in 2006 by former SCHMIDLIN engineers and metal work designers. Utilizing our experiance earned by working for a major player in facade design, the foundations for a successful startup of this well-established team have proven to be astonishingly robust. Now, after almost 10 years of successful work on domestic and international projects, GROUP 5F is still led by Yasar Kaya.
Our Phylosophie
Empirical work on building envelopes, with partners managing different disciplines – from the building physics to the solar technology - provides GROUP5F with a basis for our constructive approach. The origin of this evolving process is not restrained on a given design as GROUP 5F is dedicated to the development of sustainable solutions, in cooperation with innovative delivery partners within the facade industry.
In cooperation with climate and lighting designers, and framework engineers for the „Frauenhofer-Institute for Solar Energies Systems“, we are capable to develop shell constructions, in which all sub-systems of the building technology are integrated as scalable and dynamically regulated elements. By the use of modern materials and optimized energy concepts, under utilization of Solar energy gains; considerable savings within both building overheads and long-term maintenance costs are achievable.
Climate control and service engineering of new buildings are merging within the envelopes as key components for the modern developer and buiklding owner.

Senior Architectural Façade Engineer/Designer
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience or comparable work experience within the building / construction environment both off and on site.
A detailed understanding and thorough business knowledge of the Building Façade Engineering & Architectural field.
Proven experience in a façade design/engineering role.
Experience in relevant software in a recognised Industry Standard Format.
An appreciation of architecture.
Excellent understanding of facade systems.
An innate understanding of structural engineering and façade physics.
All round technical knowledge including: structural analysis, thermal analysis, facade systems, facade materials, facade performances, specification, testing, manufacture and site.
Very good understanding of engineering principles.
Competent with computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements in steel, stainless steel, aluminium, timber and glass.
Understanding of complex construction procedures.
Conversant in designing to British Standards/Eurocodes.
Working knowledge of SCIA and Tekla Building Designer.
Able to deliver projects to a minimum of BIM Level 2 standard.
An established skill of maintaining excellent client relationships, being competent in key client management as a tool towards developing future business.
Suitable technical based qualifications, or equivalent by experience.
Working towards or have obtained an Architectural Engineering degree or HND/HNC in civil or structural engineering or similar.
Working towards or have obtained a Masters in Facade Engineering (desirable).
Working towards or registered with ICE or IStructE or similar.
Member of the Society of Facade Engineers (MSFE).
Associate Member of the Chartered Institute Of Building (ACIOB).
A positive working attitude with good communication skills and flexibility in a dynamic role within an established Architectural team.
Experience in delegating, supervising and mentoring junior team members.
Experience of briefing CAD/REVIT technicians.
Commercial awareness and a flexible attitude to both the type of work undertaken and the level of responsibility accepted.

Unitised Facades.
Curtain wall facades and atria.
Cable truss facades.
All glass (planar) facades.
Door and window systems, including Schuco,Kawneer etc.
Twin wall facades (including closed cavity).
Blast resistant facades.
Fire rated facades.
Steel system and associated glazing styles (Raico etc).
Specialist System/Technical Knowledge:
All types of Curtain walling and cladding, including:
Unitised facade system, Twin wall facade system, Planar facade system, Cable truss facade system, Stick facade system, Specialist systems including Schuco, Technal, SAPA and Pilkington, Patent Glazing, Fire screens etc Acoustic and Thermal enhancement, CFD and OTTV, as well as Sub-contract activities including Colt, Sarnafil, Smoke vents, Louvres, Cladding, Revolving doors, Sliding doors, BMU’s.

Introducing an exciting opportunity to join the Architecture Team as a Senior Architectural Façade Engineer/Designer.
As a Senior Architectural Façade Engineer/Designer, you will be specialising in the application of building science and technology to architectural and construction projects.
A facade engineer/designer focuses on the aesthetic and functional aspects of building facades.
A facade engineer/designer plays a crucial role in the construction industry. They are responsible for designing and implementing the exterior facades of buildings. This includes ensuring the facade is water & airtight, aesthetically pleasing, energy-efficient and structurally sound. The facade is not only the face of the building but also a critical element in its performance, affecting thermal insulation, acoustics, and weather resistance.
You are recognised as having specialist skills enabling you to manage the design process and use your technical knowledge and expertise to provide innovative solutions. In addition, you will also have experience at negotiating and managing the development of a construction project.
You will be negotiating and managing all aspects of architectural and construction contracts, whether it is using traditional, partnering, design & build or other methods. You will also recognise the significance of the post construction aspects of a project.
